Atheists Have Faith?

I was having a discussion with a family member recently about whether or not it takes “faith” to not believe in a god in the same way that it takes “faith” to believe that such a being exists.  She felt that as an atheist, I was falsely attempting to take a moral high-ground by asserting that I did not possess a belief that a god does not exist, but rather that I simply lacked a belief.  I think the issue we had stemmed from a lack of mutually defined “belief.”  This episode from the Atheist Experience touches on this same issue in a very poignant fashion.  After all, you can’t prove the nonexistence of anything.
