It seems like the conservatives think they can fool the nation. Conservative television demegogue Glenn Beck is holding a “non-political” rally at the site of Dr. Martin Luther King Junior’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech. The goal of this rally apparently is to “Restore Honor” to the United States.
According to Beck’s website, Restoring Honor is a “non-political event” conceived to pay tribute to our nation’s “heroes, our heritage and our future.” Attendees will be invited to “pledge to restore honor” to America at the steps of the memorial. Critics have labeled the event “Beckapalooza” and accused the Fox host — whose company earned $32 million last year — of trying to pass off a mere self-promotional stunt as a headier endeavor.
Beck’s event is scheduled to host speakers such as key speaker, and one of my personal favorites, Sarah Palin. When you really look at the event and what is planned for the event, it’s still unclear exactly what’s going on there. Apparently they are going to hear speeches about our nation and “pass out leaflets.” Yeah, that doesn’t sound like a political rally at all. Who do they think they’re fooling?
